The recently concluded I-League Qualifiers 2020 was illuminated by some very outstanding personal performances. Nepal’s 2 players were also playing the qualifiers this season namely: Abhishek Rijal and Rajesh Pariyar. Nepal international Abhishek Rijal and his club Mohammedan SC returned to I-League for the 2020-21 season first time since 2015, with three wins and one draw in four matches.
The performance of 20-year-old Abhishek was good in the I-League qualifiers. The renowned website KhelNow.com included Abhishek Rijal in the top 5 performers in I-League Qualifiers 2020.
According to the website, the Nepalese international winger played three matches for Mohammedan SC which is also known as Black Panthers. Rijal’s biggest contribution came in the second game, in which the Kolkata-based club played against ARA FC the club where another Nepali U23 player Abhishek Rijal was playing.
Abhishek Rijal scored 2 in that game (match against ARA FC), which was played at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium. He is also one of the eye-catching sign of the Mohammedan.
Abhishek Rijal is Nepal’s first goalscorer in AFC Cup. He scored when he was playing from Manang Marshyangdi in the AFC Cup 2019. The 20-year-old youngster also played 2nd league in the Maldives with JJ Sports last season.
