Ballon d’Or Canceled Here’s the response from Barcelona

France Football officially announced the cancellation of the Ballon d’Or award for 2020. This is because of the COVID-19 corona virus pandemic. This cancellation is the first time in the history of the Ballon d’Or. This prestigious award has existed since 1956. 

“There is no 2020 edition, because after various considerations, that all requirements are not met,” said Leader of France Football magazine, Pascal Ferre. 

Barcelona also responded to the absence of the Ballon d’Or in 2020. Blaugranes still thinks all football lovers already know who the best players are.

Barcelona React To News They’ll Be No Ballon d’Or This Year

Barcelona claims, Lionel Messi is the best player in 2020.  Messi managed to become the top scorer in LaLiga with 25 goals. Messi once broke the record by becoming the top scorer seven times. 

In addition, 21 assists Messi at the same time breaking records in one season in LaLiga. Messi broke the record of his former teammate, Xavi.

Lewandowski managed to become the top scorer of the 2019/2020 season in Europe. The Polish international scored 34 goals. 

In Serie A, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo compete for the title as top scorer. Immobile has scored 28 goals so far and Ronaldo has 29 goals, of which there are five matches left in Serie A. 

In the past 10 years, Messi and Ronaldo have competed for the Ballon d’Or. Messi won by winning six times and Ronaldo five times. 

Luka Modric managed to become the only award winner between Messi and Ronaldo. Modric won it in 2018.
