Jamie Vardy signed a one-year contract extension in Leicester City, which will bring him over 36th birthday. Last season Vardy scored 23 goals and won the Premier League Golden Boot award.
This deal will bring the 33-year-old Vardy to the end of the 2022/23 season. Vardy said: “It is difficult for me to describe the journey this football club has experienced. Although we have done a lot of work together, I know that compared with this team, I still have a lot to do, so I have a special feeling to be able to dedicate my future to Leicester City again.”
The forward was signed in 2012 from Fleetwood Town, which was non league at the time. Leicester ranked fifth in the Premier League this season and will participate in the European League next season.
Jamie Vardy Premier League’s ‘Golden Boot’
Vardy has scored 129 goals in 309 appearances for Leicester, ranking fourth in the club’s history in scoring. Striker Jamie Vardy became the oldest player to win the Premier League Golden Boot after completing 23 goals this season.
Vardy “I don’t think about my age. I didn’t get any injuries. I will try my best next year.”
The 33-year-old player is the first Leicester City to win the award. This was awarded by Cadbury and is second only to Harry Kane in the past 20 years for English Player.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers said: “This is an amazing personal achievement.” “Without his qualities and goals, we would not be where we are.” “It is a pleasure to work with him, with a good mentality and high quality. It is a great honor and we are all happy for him.”
