Football Returning in Dasrath Stadium

Nepali football fans and football lovers now can see the football matches in Dasrath Stadium. Dasrath stadium was heavily damaged by 2015 Earthquake. The stadium was under construction since 2017.

Meanwhile, the Dasaratha Stadium is also undergoing renovations for the South Asian Games 2019. Men’s football will be played in Dasrath Stadium. As Asian football’s superpower Kuwait was about to face Nepal at Dasaratha Stadium it was no possible. AFC officials were not happ with the under construction stadium. The match was shifted to the Thimpu, Bhutan.

Now, the south Asian games football matches and remaining three matches of World Cup Qualifiers 2022 which is against Australia, Jordan and Chinese Taipei will be played in the Dasrath Stadium.

The Dasarath Stadium (Nepali: दशरथ रंगशाला) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu. Holding 30,000 it is the biggest stadium in Nepal. It is named after Dashrath Chand, one of four great martyrs of Nepal.

The stadium was built in 1956. It was renovated in 1998 to host the 1999 South Asian Games. In 2011 it was again renovated, to host the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup. In 1988, a human crush occurred at the stadium, resulting in 93 casualties.
