Former Barcelona president doubts Messi’s future

Lionel Messi’s future in Barcelona has become a serious question in the last time. This is due to its deteriorating relationship with the club hierarchy.

Recently, media in Spain claimed that Lionel Messi insisted to end his 16-year career at Barcelona. He has decided not to renew his contract and plans to leave when his contract expires in 2021.

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and coach Quique Setien have denied the hot rumours. In fact, Bartomeu believes Lionel Messi will continue his career at Camp Nou after 2021. However, a different view came from Joan Laporta. The former Barcelona president is worried that Lionel Messi will leave Camp Nou.

“I want him to remain in 2021,” Laporta, by Marca. “But I am afraid that a bad decision from the club board can result in an irreversible decision.”

“This is not BarcaGate, this is BartoGate. I am worried about how the status of the club is at risk,” ended Laporta.
