Messi blasts ‘weak’ team after Barcelona loses league title
In the 10 matches played since the league resumed, Barcelona have lost four points by recording three draws and one defeat. Meanwhile, Madrid, which was originally in the runner-up position continued to record victory until overtaking Barcelona in the La Liga standings.
Messi was disappointed with Barcelona’s performance lately. If nothing changes, the Barcelona captain is not sure his team can go any further in the Champions League.
“I am telling, if we continue like this, we will not advance in the Champions League because we are not good enough to defend the LaLiga title,” Messi told Movistar.
“We have to change a lot of things if we want to succeed and we also have to correct ourselves. We lost the title because of our own shortcomings and not because of what Real Madrid did as many people claim.”
“To be honest, we don’t want to end this way, but tonight’s match is a reflection of our overall season.”
“We are too weak and fragile. It is not natural for the other team to beat our intensity and passion. We lost too many points on his journey and that sums up our season,” he said.
