New boss, Ronald Koeman, wants to continue Gerard Pique in Barcelona

After getting defeated from Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Pique left the club voluntarily, and the expected changes took place at the Nou Camp.

Before the start of the new season, the Dutchman has been making extensive changes at the club, but he is also eager to maintain certain experienced figures in the coming weeks.

However, despite the controversy over Pique on his role at the club next season, Koeman still hopes that the 33-year-old will provide experience for his team.

According to a report from Diario AS. Koeman has already spoken with the former Spain international about his role next season. However, the future of other long-serving stars including Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez remains unresolved. Koeman is expected to communicate with each senior player in the next few days. He will update their personal future by the end of August.

Gerard Pique is safe for 2020/21

According to reports, Gerard Pique is part of Ronald Koeman’s plan for next season, but Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets is still uncertain. According to Cadena SER, Koeman will count on Pique next season, and the defender will continue to be a key player in the Catalan Giants’ defence.

But of course, this is not so simple for Alba, Suarez and Busquets. None of the three players wanted to go, and they all signed contracts at the Nou Camp. Busquet’s performances until 2023, Jordi Alba until 2024, and Suarez in another season. All of this means that the work of Koeman will be completed in the next few weeks, and if the trio stays, they may have to adapt to the bench.
