Real Madrid won the Spanish League in 2020. Florentino Perez, the club’s president, dedicated the title to the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Madrid locked their 34th LaLiga title after a 2-1 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on (7/17/2020). The victory makes Los Blancos now collecting 86 points with one match left in this season.
Madrid’s acquisition of these figures can no longer be pursued by their closest competitor, Barcelona. Los Cules are stuck second with 79 points after 1-2 on the same day fell from Osasuna at Camp Nou.

The Madrid president said that the title this time was offered to those who died due to the Corona virus. El Real themselves lost their former president, Lorenzo Sanz, and former coach Radomir Antic who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is a special LaLiga in this difficult time. The title was memorable for those who suffered during a pandemic,” said Perez, mentioned by Football Espana.
“Some have to leave us, some of whom are important figures for this club. This LaLiga title feels special, it is a struggle against all difficulties,” Perez added.

“Madrid has never given up, with a group of fans who are not in the stands but are always in our hearts. This LaLiga title belongs to the workers and supporters who have become role models in these last hours,” Perez ended.

I’m very proud of this LaLiga title. Because victory, in football and in life, comes from fighting together to the end. I would especially like to remember all our supporters who have passed away or who have lost loved ones to this terrible virus. This one’s for you. #HalaMadrid
