Vice President of the European Football Federation (UEFA), Michele Uva, ensures that all remaining Champions League matches and the 2019-2020 European League will be held without spectators. It is to prevent fans from coming to Portugal and Germany.
As reported, UEFA has just drawn the Champions League Quarterfinals and European League 2019-2020. All the matches of round 16 -the second leg will be held first in early August.
After that, all the teams that qualify for the quarterfinals will fly to Lisbon, Portugal, for the Champions League. And Germany for European League participants. The quarterfinals until the final of the competition will be centred in one country only.
Thus, the quarterfinal and semifinal round formats change to one match instead of the usual two legs. For the first time, the UCL and EL will be in the home tournament format. It is going to be like a World Cup or European Cup.
Last week, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin briefly reveal the possibility of the Champions League Final and the European League being in the presence of spectators. However, the certainty of the problem can only be issue after the draw.
“Our plan is to end the Champions League and European League without the presence of spectators. We must have respect on health protocols set by the governments of the two countries, “said Michele Uva.
