Nepal thrashed Sri Lanka 4-0 to reach the final of the fifth edition of the Saff Women’s Championship. Punam Jarghamagar, Anita Basnet, Sabitri Bhandari and Rekha Poudel scored apiece for the host.
Although the Sri Lankan team solidly stood in their defence of the first half, Nepal’s relentless search for a goal turned to delight after Puna Jargha Magar found the net in the 42nd minute. Their defensive performance dipped in the second half and Anu Basnet scored second goal in the 73rd minute. Sabitra Bhandari also known as SAMBA added a third in the 82nd and four minutes later Rekha Podel scored her first international goal for Nepal
