Sashank Bohara, the young forward who is making a name for himself in the Nepali Football. He represented Nepal in SAFF U15 of 2018 and 2019 and also played AFC U16 Qualifiers 2020. Let’s know more about his journey in football.
Here is the exclusive interview with him.
When did you start playing football ?
I was in Kailali District Football Association for almost 5 years, later I got entry into the ANFA Academy and stayed about 2 and half years. I had started my football journey a year before joining Kailali Football Association. So, it’s been around 8/9 years.
What inspired you to take up football as your career?
It all started, when I was in Kailali District Football Association. I got my beginning football training there. I used to see senior brothers play, that is when I got motivated and thought of being a footballer.
How did the Kailali Football Association play a role to get you into the football ?
It’s all because of them. They have played a great role in bringing me to this position. I got into ANFA Academy and played for Nepal with their support and motivation.
How was it like to play for the Nepal U16 team?
When I was in Kailali I never played in the big stag. I was a bit nervous in the beginning when I played SAFF U15 2018. Later, I got more confidence, I played some domestic tournaments. Now, I have 3 international tournaments experience SAFF U15 2018, 2019 and AFC U16 Qualifiers 2020. It’s not like before, now I have added myself full of confidence.
What about the support ?
I have full support from my family members. More to add, I have a motivating coach Yagya Shrestha, he saw talent inside me. He has given me good coaching and all the support that is needed to become a National Player.
What’s that best match you have ever played?
It was the match against Sri Lanka in SAFF U15 2019. I broke the deadlock for Nepal, with goalless draw in the first, I was able to score for Nepal in the early minutes of second half.
Who is your favorite player ?
I love Neymar Jr. His playing position and mine are the same.
